Physics studies and PhD at Hannover University with a focus on laser physics.
From 1994 until 1997 professional training in the field of intellectual property rights in an industry patent department, completion of study course “Law for Patent Attorneys” at the University of Hagen as well as training at the German Patent and Trademark Office and the Federal Patent Court in Munich.
Patent Assessor since 1998 and admitted as German Patent Attorney since 2001. European Patent Attorney since 2000.
Worked in the patent department of the Thomson/Technicolor Group from 1994 to 2016 including a period from 2001 to 2002 at Thomson/Technicolor's US patent department in Princeton /NJ and acted as Vice President German Patent Operations in a leading position during the last years.
Extensive experience in obtaining and defending intellectual property rights, especially in the grant procedure of national, European and international patent applications as well as in opposition and invalidity proceedings, mainly in the areas electrical engineering, consumer electronics, image and video processing, audio and video compression, user interface, software and displays. Furthermore, many years of experience in proving, presenting and discussing patent infringements as part of international patent licensing programs as well as in the enforcement of patents, in patent portfolio management and in the German Act on Employees’ inventions, including remuneration calculation.
